The power of color

Project statement

I'm fascinated by portraits, I love to convey the intimate essence of a person through the representation of a face, to reach directly to his most intrinsic emotional side. I use watercolors because they are capable of giving transparency and brightness, creating a sense of vitality and freshness to the subject I depict, detaching him from the remote reality to which he belong. I recall the great artistic personalities of cinema and music to reconnect with my past, with my childhood memories, when I listened to the songs and watched the films that my mother liked and that belonged to her generation, as a way of keeping her memory alive in me. My intention is to create an imaginary bridge between the old and new generations by a visual narrative that goes beyond the traditional representation of the subject, transporting singers and actors of the past into contemporary reality through a chromatic filter made up of warm and cool colors, that thanks to their power influence the viewer's perception evoking a direct emotional response, creating an intergenerational bond. This project represents a journey into memory, a conjunction between the past and the present with a commemorative meaning, to preserve the artistic heritage of these great artists over time, becoming a legacy to be passed on.
