Artist's statement
My strong instinct to express myself through art began when I was a child, as a natural and therapeutic response after the loss of my father, helping me to react positively and concentrate on the serenity that colors can give, on their beauty and on the universal meaning they communicate. Today I am learning how this can emotionally engage people and create collective experiences, transforming my great passion from something uniquely personal into a message of sharing. I use watercolors mainly for their characteristic brightness, which gives the paintings an overall feeling of positivity and harmony. Furthermore what fascinates me most is their fluidity and unpredictability, when I paint my gesture does not directly influence the final result, the effect is dynamic and the color expands creating natural and uncontrollable shades, somewhat reminiscent of the mutable nature of life. My focus is mainly on aesthetics and overall harmony, at the basis of everything there is a visual balance with which I create each of my works. For me it is important that nothing is disturbing, that all shapes and colors coexist reciprocally. With my paintings I desire to gift a beauty rich in depth, capable of stimulating remembrance and introspection, through portraiture and the symbology of color.
